IRI Honored by ACORD with Implementation Journey Award

Two of IRI’s Member Firms also celebrated with Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) released the following statement from IRI President and CEO Cathy Weatherford in response to being award the annual Implementation Journey Award by the Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD).

“The Insured Retirement Institute is humbled by our selection for the Implementation Journey Award, and we thank ACORD and its members for recognizing the work IRI has done over the past two years to help our members prepare for implementation of the Department of Labor’s fiduciary rule. This was the most significant regulatory change our industry has faced since the original enactment of ERISA in 1974, and we were proud to stand alongside our members as they worked tirelessly to understand the rule’s requirements and develop the extensive systems and processes needed to comply with the rule. While the rule is currently undergoing a comprehensive review ordered by President Trump, including the possible delay of key elements of the rule until July 2019, the efforts undertaken by IRI and our members will leave our industry well-prepared to ensure our customers receive financial advice that is in their best interest. We are honored to accept this award on behalf of all our members, who demonstrated the strength with which our industry can come together to face any challenge that comes our way.

“We are also very pleased to share this recognition with the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) and Ebix Consulting, who also received the Implementation Journey Award this year. DTCC and Ebix are valued IRI members and have been great partners throughout the DOL implementation process and on other important industry initiatives, and their selection for this award is well-deserved.”

IRI’s Vice President and Counsel of Regulatory Affairs Jason Berkowitz was on hand at ACORD2017 in Boston to accept the award.
